Bartlett Yancey's wrestlers took third place in last Saturday's Andy Hawks Duals, downing Eastern Alamance, Williams and conference rival Graham, but losing to a strong Southern Alamance team and another from Eastern Guilford.

“We had a solid showing yesterday,” Bucs coach Rick Hill wrote in a Sunday email. “We wrestled some really tough opponents in the event.”

The Bucs' 48-36 win over Graham kept them undefeated in the conference this season. They were scheduled to travel Wednesday to Seaforth to take on a strong Hawks team that is also undefeated. The outcome will determine the regular season champ.

In addition to the Graham win, BY downed Williams 48-30 and Eastern Alamance 51-24 in the third place match. The Bucs lost to highly rated Southern Alamance 61-18 and Eastern Guilford 65-11.

“A lot of our experienced wrestlers had great showings on the day. But the one that stood out for us on the day was senior Davonta Warren,” Hill wrote. “He went undefeated on the day in all his matches and pulled off a pin victory against a dominant Eastern Guilford team that hardly let any team score many points on them yesterday.”

Against Graham, BY spotted the Red Devils the lighter weight classes, which have been a weakness all season. The Bucs dominated the heavier classes, though, starting with Dallas Wall's win by pin at 138 pounds. The Bucs won seven of the next eight weight classes.

Other Bucs winners against Graham were Dakota Wall at 145 by forfeit, Jeremiah Johnston at 152 by pin, Jakoby Casselman at 170 by forfeit, Davonta Warren at 182 by pin, Jayelan Warren at 195 by pin, Lucas Church at 220 by forfeit and Jacob Walker at 285 by forfeit, according to

Against Eastern Alamance, BY winners were Johnston at 160 by pin, Casselman at 170 by pin, Davonta Warren at 182 by forfeit, Jayelan Warren at 195 by forfeit, Church at 220 by 13-12 decision, Cole Russell at 126 by forfeit, Cameron Stokes at 132 by pin, Dallas Wall at 138 by pin and Dakota Wall at 152 by pin.
