USAF SMSgt (Ret) Ricardo (Rick) Ellington Wiley transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, November 7, 2020.
Rick was born May 3, 1951 in Danville, Virginia and resided in Caswell County. He was baptized at Blackwell Baptist Church at an early age. After graduating from Bartlett Yancey High School, Rick was drafted and joined the Air Force during the Vietnam War. In October of 1971, Rick married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Vickie Marie Watkins of Alamance County. Two daughters, April and Julia were born from that union. Rick was blessed with two grandsons – Maceo and Markel Watts whom he loved immensely.
Rick retired a decorated Veteran after 26 years and 24 days of selfless service to our country in the Airforce. He joined Lockheed Martin after the Airforce where he worked until retirement.
Rick enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially with his grandsons. He was a lifelong member of Blackwell Baptist Church, in Caswell County, NC., and an active member of Bethel Langley Church in Hampton, VA.
Rick knew no strangers, and continually gave to the community, family, friends.
Rick was pre-deceased by his parents Dorsey Sr. and Mattie Pinnix Wiley of Caswell County, a sister Lily C. Wiley of Newton Massachusetts; brothers Rudolph Prentice Wiley and Dorsey O. Wiley, Jr.. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 49 years, Vickie Marie Wiley; two daughters, April LuVinia Wiley and Julia Marie Wiley of Hampton, VA; grandsons, Maceo and Markel Watts of Hampton, VA; sister Andrea Wiley Bigelow (Troy) of Huntsville Alabama; four brothers, Walter (Brenda) of Roanoke Virginia; Elliott (Rosalyn) of Cockeysville Maryland; Bernardo (Delores) of Blairs Virginia and Kenneth of Roanoke Virginia;
Rick’s Air Force brothers - CMSgt (Ret) Russell (Russ) Clark, of Washington DC, and CMSgt (Ret) Joseph (Tubby) Thomas (Bette) of South Carolina.
A host of in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, grand nieces, nephews, grand nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing and family visitation for Ricardo Wiley is at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 11 a.m. until noon, followed by a Celebration of Life.
USAF SMSgt (Ret) Ricardo Wiley will be buried with Military honors following the Celebration of Life, at Albert G. Horton National Cemetery, Suffolk, VA.
