Georgia Ann Pleasant Smith

Georgia Ann Pleasant Smith passed away peacefully on June 16, 2021 at the age of 89.

Georgia Ann was born in the Purley community of Caswell County on April 1, 1932, a daughter to the late Ross M. Pleasant and Hattie Dawson Pleasant. She graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School in 1950.  Georgia Ann was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church in the Hightowers  community where she served as treasurer for 42 years and also taught Sunday School.  She loved her church and her church family and friends. 

She was married to Bobby D. Smith on March 29, 1952.  He predeceased her in February 1998.

Georgia Ann worked at First Union National Bank for 25 years, where she retired in 1992. She always cherished the many friends that she worked with as well as her customers.

Georgia Ann was the youngest of six children. She was predeceased by her four brothers, Hayward, Yancey, Jack, R.M., and also her beloved sister, Janie Pleasant Hall. She was also predeceased by her two precious sons, David Ross Smith in 2012 and Thomas Dwight Smith in 2018.

She is survived by her grandchildren Carie Smith Brantley and husband Shane, Thomas Neal Smith, Christy Bryner and husband Randy, great grandchildren Ava Lynn Brantley and Hunter Thomas Smith, daughter-in-laws, Anita Brintle Smith and Nancy Gammon Smith and her nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service will be held at Hebron United Methodist Church at 202 Hebron Church Road, Mebane, NC 27302 in the Hightowers community on Saturday, June 19 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Ronnie Byrd officiating.  Visitation will be held following the service in the church fellowship hall.  

Memorials may be made to Hebron United Methodist Church c/o Darlene Vernon, 5188 NC Hwy 119 S Mebane, NC 27302. At other times the family will be at her home, 6053 NC Hwy 119 S, Mebane, NC 27302. 

Georgia Ann would like to thank everyone who has been so good to her during her lifetime.  She was so grateful for their love and friendship. A very special thank you is extended to her doctor, Mark Miller for the loving and compassionate care over the many years, and to all of her in home caregivers and the  home health care agencies.
