Doris H. Moore

Doris Hoeflich Moore of Yanceyville, NC died on September 3, 2021 after a period of declining health. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Hoyt R. Moore; her daughter, Diane M. Williams; and her granddaughter, Lori C. Moore. She is survived by her son, Wayne R. Moore of Semora; sister, Joan Rychwalski of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren - Amanda M. White, Brent R. Moore, Rachel M. Williams, and Jeremy M. Williams; 2 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Doris was born April 26, 1928 in Baltimore, MD to William H. and Mary Hoeflich. She attended the University of Maryland and was a retired self-employed tax preparer. Doris was a dedicated community member to the citizens of Caswell County, providing valuable support to American Legion Post 89, especially for their production of the Caswell Co. Agricultural Fair for 49 years. She was also a board member of the Caswell Co. Board of Elections for 10 years, serving as Chairwoman for 3 years; served on the Caswell Co. Board of Social Services and the Prison Board; was a member of the American Business Women’s Association; and served as the Chairwoman of the Caswell Co. Republican Party for 25 years. In 1986, she was appointed by Gov. Jim Martin to represent North Carolina for 6 years on the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 22 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church in Danville, VA. The family will host a visitation immediately following the ceremony at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County.
