Josh Fuqua

The community is saddened by the death on Sunday of educator Josh Fuqua who died after several years of declining health.

He was the son of Thomas Lea Fuqua (Diane) of Mebane and Sharon Carter Fuqua of Providence.

Fuqua was dedicated to being an educator and loved his job as a sixth grade teacher at N. L. Dillard Middle School.

He was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey Senior High School, Class of 2004 and earned his undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University. He has completed his Master’s Degree from Liberty University and Ed. S Degree and was also well into completing his PhD in Organizational Administration.

Principal Franschesca Gantt had this to say: “Josh Fuqua was a wonderful person, teacher, colleague, student, mentor and the list goes on. He spent over ten years serving the students and families of Caswell County Schools and took great pride in making the experience of learning great for each student. Mr. Fuqua taught science here at NLDMS and taught each grade level during his time here. He spent most of his years in 8th grade and recently had moved to 6th grade to be able to loop with his students from one grade to another. He was not only a teacher, but a student club organizer of many student academic clubs, he tutored many students outside of school, he was our NLDMS Master DJ as he spun the tunes at all of our dances, he mentored several students in his time away from school, he kept the books for the basketball team and the baseball team, and the list goes on. His shoes that he left are immense and will never be fully filled. He pursued and had several degrees and was currently working on his Ph.D. If ever was a lifelong learner, he is definitely the truest example. I am honored to have worked with him and his legacy will live on in Caswell County Schools. Our school mourns along with our whole county as his impact was far-reaching. He is definitely gone too soon and we will miss him dearly as we work to honor his legacy.”
