On Friday, July 16, 6-7 p.m., a prayer vigil will be held at the Historic Courthouse in Yanceyville for Brandy McFarling, 38, Yanceyville, who is in Moses Cone Hospital ICU in Greensboro where she is recovering from numerous injuries. Alice Robinson of County Outreach Ministry will offer a special message along with music and prayers.
The tragic car accident on June 20 sent McFarling and other passengers to the hospital when all of them suffered serious injuries.
Donna Dalton, Brandy’s aunt, shares that her niece is still in critical condition three weeks later with a long road ahead of her. Her injuries include broken ribs, broken femur, bruising of the brain, punctured lung, broken pelvis, and internal injuries.
She is the mother of two children, Cameron, 15, and Jacoby, 12, who are with their father. She is a resident of Yanceyville and a longtime employee at the Brian Center where she works as a Central Supply Manager. A bestrong bracelet fundraiser is being conducted by the Brian Center at this time. Bracelets can be purchased at the front office.
“Last Thursday, they moved her out of ICU, but her condition worsened. She is back on 100% oxygen on the breathing tube,” says Dalton.
She and others in the neighborhood are working on fundraisers to raise money for her niece when she comes home. There are always incidental expenses such as going back and forth to the doctors, buying medicine, etc. All of the proceeds from the fundraisers will go to this fund.
A tent for the #bestrong movement was set up at the July 3 Independence Day event in Yanceyville. More than $500 was raised for the 50/50 drawing. Half was given to the winning ticket holder and the other half went to McFarling.
Glassworx of the Triad located at 9984 NC Hwy. 86 N, Providence, has donated a gas grill that raffle tickets are being sold for right now. It will be awarded live at 1 p.m. on August 1.
Also on Sunday, August 1, 1 p.m., a hot dog meal/bake sale will be held at this same location to raise more funds. Raffle tickets for the grill are $3 each or two for $5 and will be sold up until 1 p.m. that day. Gift baskets and possibly other prizes will be raffled. Crafts will be available for sale in addition to a prayer vigil.

A fundraising yard sale will be held at Teddy Bear's on Saturday, July 24, starting at 7 a.m. Donations for the yard sale are being accepted at the store from now through July 24.
A booth will be set up at the September 25 Bright Leaf Hoedown in Yanceyville for donations and to raffle off other prizes such as gift baskets.
