Local Organization Offers Funds for Community Projects
Middle Border Forward announces the launch of its newest community development initiative – Community Builders Fund – which provides a financial sponsorship (up to $1,000) and technical support for community projects designed and implemented by individuals or small groups.
“What makes Community Builders Fund unique is its focus,” says Middle Border Forward’s executive director Jennifer Gregory, “While most funders limit their support to nonprofit organizations, Community Builders Fund provides this opportunity exclusively to individuals and small groups.”
Community Builders Fund is not Middle Border Forward’s first initiative of its kind. In fact, the program is an expanded form of its highly successful Community 500 sponsorship program. The organization has sponsored over 45 small scale community development projects in recent years. Examples of previously funded projects can be found on the organization’s website.
Applications are open now and will be reviewed by a panel of community leaders on a monthly basis. Eligible applicants must live or work in Danville, Pittsylvania County or Caswell County.
Funding for the Community Builders Fund was provided by Danville Regional Foundation, Community Foundation of the Dan River Region and The Health Collaborative of the Dan River Region’s Caswell County Chapter. Middle Border Forward expects to sponsor up to 20 projects this year. Ten of these projects are earmarked for Caswell County, with the balance being split between Danville and Pittsylvania County.
“Caswell County is slated to be awarded more projects in 2021 due to restrictions on the financial support we have received,” Gregory explains, “Of course, if partners in Danville and Pittsylvania County want to fund additional projects in those areas, we absolutely welcome their support.”
Middle Border Forward is a nonprofit organization committed to building social capital in the Dan River region by inspiring meaningful community engagement and developing effective grassroots leaders. MBF is an equal opportunity organization.
