Drive By Shooting into Home Saturday Night Now a Homicide Investigation
Earlier this afternoon, WILLIAM ANTHONY GREENE, 51, of 1353 River Rd. Stoneville, N.C. passed away from his injuries at a local Triad area hospital. GREENE was visiting at 2790 U.S. 220 Business in Stoneville on Saturday at around 9 p.m. when a gunshot, believed to have been fired from a passing vehicle travelling down the roadway, stuck GREENE in the head as he sat at the kitchen table inside the residence.
Rockingham County Investigators are treating this investigation as a homicide. ORIGINAL RELEASE - Sheriff's Investigators Seek Leads on Drive By Shooting into Home, One Critically Injured

[Rockingham County, N.C.] – On Saturday October 17, 2020 at around 9 p.m., Rockingham County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a call of shots fired from a vehicle into a home on U.S. 220 Business near Janet Rd. in Stoneville, N.C. One individual, who had been inside the home at the time, sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The individual was airlifted to a triad area hospital for treatment.
Rockingham County Sheriff's Office is not releasing the victim's name at this time pending notification of their next of kin. No suspect or vehicle information is available at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
