Paramedic and EMT healthcare courses are available this winter at PCC

Piedmont Community College (PCC) is offering two healthcare courses this winter to move those interested in serving their community, helping others, and saving lives a little closer to achieving their career goals.

The Paramedic course begins Dec. 20 and is an opportunity to advance one’s career and earn recognized certification. The course is designed to produce competent entry-level Paramedics who can provide treatment to the community in emergency situations. Paramedics assess the urgent needs of patients and stabilize their condition until they receive advanced care.

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course is available for anyone interested in becoming an EMT and begins on Jan. 11. Students will learn the basic knowledge needed to provide, under medical authority, prehospital emergency care. Once completed, the EMT graduates will have the opportunity to become state and nationally certified to become fully licensed EMTs.

Course applications and scholarship information can be found at www.piedmontcc.edu/emt.
