Piedmont Community College (PCC) has many short-term courses that offer certification and the possibility for a career change. The following courses begin in the month of September that could position someone with the opportunity to obtain new employment. Networking Technology – CompTIA Net+ Certification (scholarships available)

CompTIA Network+ Certification is a baseline credential for IT infrastructure, covering troubleshooting, configuring, and managing network. N10-7 exam addresses current networking technologies, like key cloud computing best practices, service models, virtualization techniques, and network resiliency, with expanded coverage of critical security concepts to help networking professionals work with security practitioners.

$180 registration fee with scholarship funding available

BioWork Process Technician (scholarship available)

Process technicians are involved in the making of products such as antibiotics, bleach, cosmetics, deodorant, detergents, paint, plastics, Post-It notes, shampoo, soft drinks, and wine. Class graduates are able to sit for the process technician certification exam. 

$181 registration fee + $83.57 for the text book with scholarship funding available

Basic Welding I

Basic Welding I will introduce welding safety, fundamentals, and techniques of shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) also known as stick welding.

OSHA Forklift Training

This course provides instruction on the operation and maintenance of an industrial forklift. Core topics include forklift design, controls and instrumentation, pre-use inspection, safety awareness, and forklift stability.

Cardiovascular Technician (scholarship available)

Prepare to become a certified EKG Technician (CET) for under $500 (that includes the national exam fee!). This program will prepare students for the Certified EKG Technician (CET) Exam through the National Healthcare Association (NHA). Students will learn the anatomy and physiology of the heart, including the electrical conduction system and how it affects heart function.

$198 registration fee + textbook, online study materials, and National board exam fees.

Medication Aid for Licensed Personnel

This program will prepare you for the NC competency exam that enables them to administer medications in skilled nursing homes (long-term care facilities).

Medical Administrative Assistant with EHR (Career Step)
