Danville Public Schools (DPS) was made aware of a positive COVID-19 case at Galileo Magnet High School on Wednesday, November 18. Billy Chaney, the DPS Pandemic Coordinator, began contact tracing immediately and identified any exposures within DPS.
All parents and staff at Galileo Magnet High School have been notified.
DPS has contacted the Virginia Department of Health.
Based on the mitigation efforts currently in place, we are confident that this incident is contained and no further action is necessary. Galileo will continue with its normal school operating hours on Thursday, November 19, 2020.
*A potential exposure is defined as close contact with a person who is infected with COVID-19.
*Close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more in a single day.
