BY Boys Baseball nab first conference win of season

Starting pitcher Chase Johnson led a complete game shutout with 10 strikes for BYHS boys baseball first conference game win.

In their first conference action of the season, Bartlett Yancey Boys Baseball delivered big on Thursday, March 7, against Carrboro at home, snapping a three game losing streak.

A two-run first inning kicked off the momentum and BY never let up from there. After three innings, the score was 8-0 Bucs.

Two more runs in the fourth and one in the fifth sealed the deal with a 10-0 win called after five innings due to mercy rule.

Chase Johnson started as pitcher and pitched a fantastic game with 10 strikeouts and a complete game shutout.

Carrboro simply couldn’t put together any offense. Blake Solomon had four RBIs; Colby Solomon contributed three; and Micah New, Kris Lynn and Cody Barts each had one RBI in a hitting and base running clinic.

After starting the season 0-3, this was a big win for the Bucs and when asked about the victory, Head Coach Owen Wall said, “Great win tonight. Chase Johnson pitched a really good ballgame. Our guys came out with the mentality to win and that’s what they did. They’ve practiced long and hard and come off of a losing streak. [I] couldn’t be more proud and happy with this conference win.”

Bartlett Yancey Boys Baseball look to win again against Roxboro Community at Roxboro, tonight at 6 p.m.
