Several weeks ago, Scott Cranston of Reidsville came before the Caswell County Board of Education to ask for permission to use the Dillard Middle School football field as the home field for summer games for a new amateur football team he is creating called the Yanceyville Rhinos.

This week, Cranston sent a message to the Caswell Messenger that although he had been turned down by the board to use the field, the CCFL has accepted his team into the league. “So now the real fun starts finding players. I have a small website set up called ( with email at (Rhinos2020@yahoo) and (Yancyeville Rhinos) on Facebook. I'm not sure we will be playing in Yanceyville, though, since the school board turned me down so I'm still looking for a team home,” he says.

He is trying to work things out with the fair grounds in Yanceyville, but if it doesn’t work out he may have to move the team to Danville.

“ I still really want to be in Yanceyville because I feel it would be something nice for the community,” he adds.

Please contact him if anyone knows of a field the team could use.

Cranston would be using the field for eight-ten Saturdays from July to November.

His message on Facebook reads: Adult (18 and up) full contact football team is having an open sign up for the 2020 inaugural season on March 8 at the Yanceyville County Fair Grounds from 1-6 p.m.

We are members of the Central Carolina Football League and all positions are open.

If you can’t make the sign up date or would prefer to email, send to with your name and number. We are only allowed 60 players on the roster so the first 60 will be the team. Practice will start on March 14 with location to be announced.

Practice will be held two or three days a week and games start at the end of July on Saturdays.

We are also looking for sponsors and will welcome any donations in hopes of making this a fun and successful season. Visit our website at
