Frances Leona “Lee” Youngs, 90, of 5003 NC Hwy 86S, Yanceyville, passed away on June 6, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Marshall Powell and Annie Ferrell Powell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 24 years, Charles “Chuck” Archibald Youngs, Jr.; four brothers, Henry Wiseman “John” Powell, Melvin Odell Powell, Clarence Spencer “Pete” Powell and Edgar Powell; three sisters, Judith Powell Atkins, Janice Marie Powell and Edna Powell; and stepson John Youngs.
Ms. Youngs had a zeal for life, enjoyed a good laugh and was passionate about her family. She was a lady of great humility and known for her generosity, always thinking of others and putting their needs before her own.
After she married the love of her life, Chuck, she and her husband spent much of their time involved in travel and saw much of the world.
She was an incredible cook, known for many delights including her homemade biscuits and fried pies. She will be greatly missed.
Ms. Youngs is survived by two brothers, Earl Thomas Powell and Reba of Roanoke, VA and David “Jim” Powell and Brenda of Yanceyville, NC; one sister Joyce Powell of the home; two stepchildren, Rob Youngs and Ernestine of Miami, FL and Bonnie Wilson and Don of Huntsville, AL; one step daughter-in-law, Debbie Youngs of Huntsville, AL.
She is also survived by several step grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held aton Sunday, June 9, at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 85 Pleasant Grove Church Rd., Yanceyville, NC by Rev. Joe Jackson.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service from and other times at the home.
