Julian David Blalock, 88, a resident of Sophia, died Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at the Hospice Home at High Point.
He was born November 27, 1931, in Caswell County and was the son of the late Robert Pierce Blalock and Mildred Ursula Squires Blalock. He graduated from Prospect Hill High School in Prospect Hill, NC, served four years in the U.S. Air Force, and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1959. He worked as an accountant for General Telephone Company in Durham, N.C. State Utilities Commission in Raleigh, and retired in 1998 from North State Telephone Company in High Point. Over the years, he enjoyed fishing, camping and boating with his family, proudly supporting his children and grandchildren in their various activities. He also enjoyed flying private airplanes, bluebird watching and fellowship with New Market Civitan Club. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro where he was a member of the Westminster Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Marvin, Irene, Ernest and Edna.
Julian is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Carroll Blalock; three sons, David Blalock and wife, Sharon, Alan Blalock and wife, Melissa, and Phil Blalock and wife, Shannon; seven grandchildren, Lane, Cade, John, Elizabeth, Reagan, Carsyn and Benson; brother, Lloyd Blalock and wife, Elsie; and extended family who meant so much to him.
A private graveside service celebrating Julian’s life was held at Blalock Family Cemetery in Prospect Hill, NC.
