Randolph Davis Thomas, Jr., 71, of 172 Orchard Dr., Danville, VA passed away on August 29,
2019. Born in Danville, VA, he was the son of the late Randolph Davis Thomas Sr. and Mattie
Regan Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Beck and
Ocie Wadford. Mr. Thomas was a decorated U.S. Army veteran. He enlisted in 1966 and served
3 tours in Vietnam. He received two bronze stars, Presidential Unit Citation, National Service
Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars and one silver star, Sharp
Shooter Badge and Expert Badge. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church along with
his beloved sister Marion. He enjoyed college basketball, traveling, having breakfast with his
friends every Tuesday, and spending as much time as possible with his daughters and grandson.
Mr. Thomas is survived by two daughters, Annie Burnett of Danville, VA and Cathelene
Thomas of Raleigh; one sister, Marion Thomas Hyler of Danville, VA; one grandson, Joseph
Aaron Burnett of Danville, VA; three nephews, Michael Pritchett of Danville, VA, Nick Beck of
OH, and Steven Taulbee Sr.; one niece, Patricia Geddes of Hopewell, VA.
