Yanceyville, N.C.- It is with profound sorrow we announced the passing of Mrs. Gladys Mary Lea Lipscomb of 445 Cobb Road, Yanceyville, N.C. who passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in the UNC Hospital in Hillsborough, N.C.
She was a native of Caswell County, N.C., the daughter of the late Major Brier and Ida Springfield Lea, born August 2, 1924. She was a member of Hamer Baptist Church.
She worked as a Homemaker/ Chore Provider.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Cal Lea and Hubert “Pop Eye” Lipcomb; two sons, James Lipscomb and David Lipscomb; four brothers, Rev. Cephus Lea, Clyde Wilson Lea, Germanelle Lea, and George Slade.
Mrs. Gladys Mary Lea Lipscomb survivors are five sons, Williams Alexander Lipscomb of Yanceyville, N.C., Rev. Eugene Lipscomb (Veronica) or Blanch, N.C., Major Lipscomb of Providence, N.C., Clarence Henry Lea (Sherry) of Prospect Hill, N.C., and John Lea of Yanceyville, N.C.; four daughters, Carol Williamson of Yanceyville, N.C., Virginia Mason of Elon, N.C., Denise Dobson (Cleveland) or Dobson, N.C., and Cassandra Dobson (Graylen) of Pinnacle, N.C.; 23 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; a host of great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
A viewing was Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Gladys Mary Lea Lipscomb was Sunday, January 5, 2020 2 p.m. at Hamer Baptist Church, Blanch, N.C. Pastor Daniel Elmore delivered words of comfort.
Interment was in the Hamer Baptist Church Cemetery.
