It is with great sadness that the family of Darlene Crutchfield announces her passing after a brief illness on April 15, 2019. A memorial Mass in memory of Darlene will be celebrated in her home town, Struthers, Ohio at a later date. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
On Monday, April 15, 2019, Darlene Crutchfield, a beloved wife, devoted daughter, sister, aunt and good friend to many, passed away after a brief illness.
Darlene was born in Youngstown, Ohio on January 18, 1947, the second of four children, to Joseph and Agnes (Rubicky) Hlebak. She was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and was employed by GMAC for over 30 years. On April 6, 1984 she married Calvin Crutchfield, who she was with for 35 years.
Darlene’s life was one of generosity and love. He was generous beyond her means and perceiving goodness in all people, she loved unconditionally. Darlene was an amazing cook with a kitchen that was always open to everyone. Whether in her little apartment in Hyattsville, Maryland, or at her Carolina home, nothing made Darlene happier than to have family and friends drop in and visit. Her love, kindness and compassion will be missed, but the spirit of her life will live on in all who knew her.
Darlene was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes and her father, Joseph. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Calvin, her sister, Ruth (Joe) and her two brothers, Bob (Marlette) and Jim (Debbie), her many nieces and nephews and beloved friends.
A memorial Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Parish, 250 North Bridge Street, Struthers, Ohio 44471 at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Hospice of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514, where Darlene received extraordinary care in the last days of her life.
