Eden woman Heather Marie Ward, 25, led police on a 52-mile chase at speeds up to 100 mph around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. She is now in the Henry County jail after being arrested after police used a tire deflation device at the intersection of Rt. 220 and Rt. 40 in Rocky Mount VA.
She was arrested by VSP Sgt. D.W. McBride without incident and charged with felony eluding and reckless driving.
The chase in her 2015 Jeep Patriot started in North Carolina and was continued in Virginia through Henry County into Franklin County.
Police in North Carolina were trying to stop her after a report of someone firing a gun into a building.
A K-9 unit tracked down a gun that police say was thrown from the vehicle during the chase through Henry County.
She is scheduled for arraignment in Henry County General District Court on Wednesday at 8:15 a.m.
Additional charges are pending in North Carolina.
