Williams High School in Burlington was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon as members of the Burlington Police Department searched for a weapon on campus, according to a spokesperson with Alamance-Burlington School system.
Burlington police informed the school about a suspected weapon on campus following a tip about an off-campus altercation last night in the community.
The tip came in after school hours, delaying dismissal and leading parents to scramble for information.
“Campus is quiet and students are safe inside the classrooms. Parents will be notified as the lock down is lifted,” the school system said in a news release.
