A 32-year-old man wanted for a probation violation in Caswell County is now a person of interest in a Danville, Va. murder investigation, according to police there.
Harry James Gladmon, who police describe as dangerous, is wanted in connection with the stabbing death of 56-year-old Gilmore Martin Cowan of Pittsylvania County, Va.
Cowan had just finished his shift at the Airport Pure Station on South Boston Road shortly after midnight on Monday, Sept. 30. With the store closed, a friend was in the parking lot to pick him up.
When he got into her car, a man wearing a mask approached, repeatedly stabbed Cowan, and then fled on foot. The assailant was also possibly cut during the attack.
Another man also fled on foot. Both men were wearing Halloween masks, which police recovered in the area following the stabbing.
Cowan’s friend, who was not injured, drove him to the emergency room at Danville Regional, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Police ask that anyone with information on Gladmon’s whereabouts call 911.
