Family Services of Caswell County hosted its Domestic Violence Awareness Vigil Thursday night.
Roughly three dozen people, including 6th District Congressman Mark Walker and 50th District Representative Graig Meyer, attended the event held on the steps of Yanceyville's Historic Courthouse.
Caswell County Manager Bryan Miller opened the ceremony and Caswell County Board of Commissioners Commissioner David J. Owen followed with a prayer. Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden, along with Jason Ramey, district attorney, prosecutorial district 22, Meyer and Walker.
Casey Hamlett followed with an emotional speech before singing Christina Aguilera's "I'm OK."
Family Services of Caswell County Program Director Aisha Gwynn concluded the vigil with a speech detailing the inspiration behind the group's butterfly logo, which represents victims transitioning into survivors.
