Debra Ferrell

The Caswell Messenger welcomes Debra Ferrell this week as the new editor of this fine publication from Womack Publishing Company.

Ferrell has a 20+ year history of working in the newspaper business starting as a reporter in the late 1990s at Altavista Journal in Altavista VA.

She is a previous editor of Altavista Journal, The Union Star in Brookneal VA and the Times-Virginian in Appomattox VA.

“I am very excited to be the new editor in Yanceyville,” she said on Tuesday. “I am new to this area and find it quite fascinating. In many ways it is very rural, but just when you think you’ve seen it all, there will be something to surprise you. I’m looking forward to doing a lot of exploring and finding out what makes Caswell County and Yanceyville in particular such a great place to live and work. I hope readers will explore with me as I search for new ways to make the paper a ‘must have’ item on your reading list.”

Ferrell encourages everyone to keep her informed on what’s going on in their community. New features will be added in the weeks to come. Readers are encouraged to continue to send submissions of articles or photos to be in the paper.

Freelance writers and photographers are being sought to bring even more information to you.

She is also working in sales and looks forward to helping customers create advertising campaigns that will bring more business to their door.
