Bartlett Yancey boys’ soccer team has proved this year it has a talent for lighting up the scoreboard and wearing a few holes into the back of the net. 

BY continued to give fans and opponents proof of its offensive prowess this week, scoring an average of six goals a game in wins against Roxboro Community, Morehead and Reidsville. 

The Buccaneers kicked off their torrid scoring pace with an 8-1 victory over Roxboro Community this past Friday. Junior striker Will McDowell added four goals and two assists to pace the Bucs in their victory over the Bulldogs while senior captain midfielder scored a pair of goals and added an assist as well. Senior captain defender Joshua Smith added a goal and an assist and senior defender David Gonzalez chipped in with a goal and assist as well. 

BY (10-7, 2-5 Mid-State 2A) found the net early and often in its 5-3 victory over non-conference opponent Morehead last Tuesday. McDowell added his second hat trick in as many games, scoring three goals in the victory over the Panthers. Rios added the other two while Smith and Rios each added a pair of dimes as well. 

The Bucs concluded their three-game road trip Wednesday with a 5-3 win over conference opponent Reidsville. The Buccaneers defeated the Rams, 5-3, for a season sweep of the Rams. McDowell added his third hat trick of the week, scoring three goals, pushing his three-game total 10, in the victory. Smith and sophomore forward Ridge Barter each added goals as well. Freshman midfielder Kiko Olivarria recorded a pair of assists, while junior Dylan Tate and Rios each pitched in with an assist as well. 

BY continues its playoff push Monday when it travels to Durham for a conference matchup against North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
