Readers may remember learning about Bodie, picked up by Animal Control April 5th, on Willie McCain Road in Yanceyville. When received at the Shelter, Bodie had a gunshot wound to the shoulder and chest. He also had scars on his muzzle and injuries consistent with being dragged on a hard surface, likely a road. A vet has since determined other injuries consistent with abuse since Bodie was a puppy. He currently has heartworms, a grade 2 heart murmur, and kidney function issues possibly due to impact trauma. Bodie also tested positive for two tick-borne illnesses Ehrlichiosis and Lyme Disease. Bodie is doing much better but has months of treatment ahead.
An online GoFundMe account was established in early May. To date, this has been used to pay for veterinary services, which are ongoing. “Justice for Bodie” was also established to raise funds for a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person/persons responsible for the horrific abuse.
