Principal Franchesca Gantt and the N.L. Dillard Middle School Staff welcomed a Standing-Room-Only crowd to the N.L. Dillard Middle School gymnasium to witness the 2019 Eighth-Grade Promotion Ceremony.
The school administrators and eighth-grade teachers were dressed in their graduation regalia representing their alma maters, and the students wore their finest attire for the occasion. In addition to the families and friends of the more than 185 eighth-grade students being promoted to Bartlett Yancey High School for the 2019-2020 school year, there were several dignitaries in attendance, including past and present school board members and Dr. Sandra Carter, Superintendent of Caswell County Schools.
Gantt spoke to the students about reaching their goals and not allowing anything to stand in their way. She spoke about her brother who became a doctor when they only wanted to see him graduate from high school.
Dr. Sandra Carter gave some closing remarks while encouraging students to make the most of their upcoming years in high school. Several staff members were excited to see the turnout for this year’s promotion ceremony, which was held during the school day instead of in the evening for the first time in recent memory. The excitement grew as the student names were being called to receive their certificates. Waiting up front to congratulate each student with a smile and a handshake were Principal Franchesca Gantt and Assistant Principals’ Janice Castle and Clarence Garrett. This was truly a first-class event to bring a close to an exciting school year at N.L. Dillard Middle School. Best wishes to the Class of 2023!
